Dear friend of Iron County's clear water,
The Iron County Watershed Coalition is reaching out to you...
The purpose of our organization is: To ensure the highest possible quality of waters in Iron County by educating and engaging our communities in projects that will restore and preserve our watershed for future generations.
The activities of the ICWC remain consistent with our goals:
Connect with other organizations, people, and projects
- ICWC embraced partnerships with local government bodies and organizations on issues related to water quality and environmental issues in Iron County.
- Recently, we provided a tour of the Dober Mine area for Senator Tom Casperson and sponsored a presentation by Dr. Alan Johnson (Professor at MTU) regarding the history and mechanics of the Dober Mine mitigation site.
- Support the Miskwaagamiiwiziibi Water Trails Camping Park in Bates Township.
- Support the E-waste recycling facility in the county.
- Continuing to work with Iron County Road Commission on Wild River Road Culvert.
Raise awareness of Iron County watersheds through educational activities
- Recreational opportunities geared towards the appreciation of our beautiful river.
- River Clean-Up projects.
- Historic River Walks, with interpretation of history and current status of legacy mining.
- Promotion of our organization with educational brochures, maps, and merchandise.
- Continued free public programming on water quality to engage more community members in the issues that concern us all.
